Black Tie CBD MOB THCA Flower Review: 8.7/10

Before I get into it

MOB, short for Mother of Berries, is one of those strains where the name actually tells you quite a bit about what you are getting.

Black Tie identifies it as a 90/10 indica-dominant hybrid bred from Blueberry × Jerry Berry, and pretty much everything about my experience leaned heavily into that old-school blueberry profile.

I tried the Exotic Indoor batch from Black Tie. The report lists 26.78% THCA and 3.23% total terpenes, and this one immediately got my attention when I opened the jar.

Not because it smelled vaguely fruity.

It smelled like somebody had been baking blueberry pie next to a bag of weed.

And I mean that as a compliment.

My final score: 8.7/10.

First impression

The buds on MOB were chunky, dense, and covered in trichomes.

There was a really nice mixture of dark forest green, purple tucked into parts of the flower, and bright orange pistils running through everything. Under decent lighting, there was enough resin coverage that the buds had the frosted appearance I want to see from higher-end indoor flower.

It definitely had the bag appeal.

More importantly, though, it did not feel like all looks and no substance.

Breaking a nug apart made the smell noticeably stronger, and that is where MOB really started separating itself from a lot of other flower I have tried.

The smell

Blueberry.

Lots of blueberry.

But not in that artificial blue-raspberry-candy way some strains get described online.

This smelled closer to actual blueberry preserves or blueberry pie filling.

There was a sugary sweetness underneath it, along with a little earth and skunk that kept the whole thing from smelling like straight-up dessert.

The deeper I got into the bud, the more I noticed a creamy, slightly musky smell underneath the fruit.

It was one of those strains where I opened the jar again just to smell it.

You know.

For research.

The lab reported 3.23% total terpenes, with nerolidol, linalool, beta-myrcene, and alpha-humulene among the most abundant terpenes. I could tell this was not flower built solely around a giant THCA number.

There was actual character here.

Flavor

Thankfully, MOB did not pull the classic trick of smelling incredible and then tasting like absolutely nothing.

A lot of the blueberry carried over.

The first thing I noticed was a sweet berry flavor, followed by something almost vanilla-like. After that initial sweetness, some earthiness and skunk started creeping in toward the finish.

The berry flavor hung around on the palate afterward too.

It was rich without becoming obnoxiously sweet.

I would describe it as:

Blueberry jam → vanilla sweetness → earth → creamy skunk.

And honestly, that combination worked really well.

This definitely fell into the dessert-strain category, but there was enough traditional cannabis flavor underneath everything to remind me that I was not smoking a blueberry Pop-Tart.

Although...

Blueberry Pop-Tart weed would probably sell.

The first 10–15 minutes

MOB did not hit me like a freight train immediately.

It crept in.

At first, I noticed a change behind my eyes and a general slowing-down feeling mentally. Nothing particularly dramatic. I was still perfectly capable of doing whatever I was doing.

Then the physical relaxation started showing up.

That is when I went:

“Ohhh. Okay. There it is.”

My shoulders started relaxing first, followed by that heavier feeling through the rest of my body.

And considering Black Tie describes MOB as roughly 90% indica, that was pretty much what I expected.

Around 30 minutes in

This was where MOB really started showing its personality.

The mental effects stayed surprisingly comfortable.

I was not getting blasted with racing thoughts or feeling like I suddenly needed to understand the nature of consciousness.

I was just... content.

Very content.

Meanwhile, my body was becoming increasingly interested in not moving.

There was a warm, heavy relaxation that gradually built instead of dropping on me all at once.

At moderate amounts, I could still sit at my computer, watch something, listen to music, or have a conversation without feeling completely useless.

But productivity?

Ehhh.

MOB was not really giving me “finish that spreadsheet” energy.

It was giving me “that spreadsheet will still exist tomorrow” energy.

Body effects

This was definitely where MOB shined for me.

The longer I sat with it, the heavier the body effects became.

Not necessarily full-on couch lock immediately, but there was a very obvious physical slowdown.

The couch got better.

The blanket got better.

Whatever I was watching somehow became more interesting.

And my willingness to get up because I left my drink across the room dropped substantially.

This was absolutely an evening strain in my book.

I would not reach for MOB before starting a bunch of work unless my goal was to become emotionally comfortable with not finishing any of it.

Potency and the lab report

The July 2026 batch report lists:

THCA: 26.78%

Delta-9 THC: 0.29%

Total THC: 23.773%

Total cannabinoids: 27.46%

Total terpenes: 3.23%

Those numbers lined up pretty well with my experience.

It was potent, but the bigger story for me was the combination of cannabinoid content and a legitimately strong terpene profile.

It did not feel like flower that existed purely so someone could put “30% THCA!!!” in giant letters on the packaging.

And I appreciated that.

The FESA Labs report matched the figures on Black Tie’s product page and included pesticide, residual-solvent, mycotoxin, heavy-metal, microbial, moisture, and terpene panels. It also listed the batch number as “N/A,” so I still want to see a clearer report-to-package identifier even on a strong full-panel report. My THCA COA guide explains why that detail matters.

This batch is also a good example of why I do not treat THCA percentage as a complete quality score. The aroma and flavor were more memorable than the potency headline.

As always with high-THCA flower, especially if your tolerance is low, there is absolutely no prize for consuming the entire amount immediately.

You can always have more.

You cannot file a refund request with your brain.

Smoothness

I would put the smoke around an 8.5/10.

The berry and creamy notes came through nicely, and there was not much harshness distracting from the flavor.

There was a little of that traditional earthy, skunky bite toward the end of a hit, but overall this was pretty comfortable flower to smoke.

The cure seemed to play a big role here too.

The buds were dense without being dried into little rocks, and breaking them apart released more aroma instead of turning them into dust.

The munchies

Yeah.

They were there.

The combination of sweet flavor and heavy relaxation eventually had me thinking about food significantly more than I had been twenty minutes earlier.

And there is something particularly dangerous about smoking a strain that tastes vaguely like blueberry pie and then remembering that your kitchen exists.

You have been warned.

The comedown

MOB gradually settled down rather than falling off a cliff.

The heavier effects hung around for a while, and as they faded, I was left feeling pretty relaxed and ready to call it a night.

That was another reason I kept this one in the evening category.

For me, it was much more:

Dinner → MOB → movie, music, or game → bed

than:

Coffee → MOB → conquer the world.

Wrong tool for that job.

What I liked

The biggest thing MOB had going for it was that the entire experience felt cohesive.

The smell said blueberry.

The flavor said blueberry.

The genetics said indica.

The effects said please sit down.

Everything made sense.

The 3.23% terpene result was one of the biggest highlights because this flower had a recognizable personality beyond just being potent.

And that berry profile was legitimately good.

What I did not love

I struggled to find anything seriously wrong with MOB.

If you do not like heavy indica effects, this probably is not your strain.

And if you prefer citrus, gas, diesel, or really funky savory strains, the dessert-heavy blueberry profile might not be what you are looking for.

Personally, I also would not choose it as an all-day strain.

The relaxation became a little too convincing.

But those were not really flaws.

They were more about knowing what MOB was designed to do.

Final verdict

8.7/10.

MOB was exactly the kind of flower I want to see from something labeled “Exotic.”

It looked premium, smelled ridiculously good, carried its aroma into the flavor, and delivered the heavy relaxing experience its genetics suggested it should.

The blueberry-pie smell was easily the star of the show.

But what impressed me more was that underneath all that sweetness, there was still enough earth, musk, and skunk to give the strain some depth.

This was not just “weed that smells fruity.”

It had an identity.

If I am looking for something at the end of the day when I have absolutely nowhere else I need to be, I would gladly reach for MOB again.

Appearance: 9.0/10

Flavor: 8.8/10

Smoothness: 8.5/10

Effects: 8.7/10

Overall: 8.7/10

Would I buy it again? Yeah.

Especially if I was specifically looking for a heavy evening strain with a pronounced berry terpene profile.
